Sholur G Raman
_Born in the beautiful village SHOLUR, G Raman studied in the Govt High School, Sholur and further pursued his Degree in Govt Arts College, Ooty.
After completing college studies in 1982, He joined The
Indian Army as a civilian employee during 1983 and worked for two years and
came to Bangalore on transfer to Indian Air Force in1985. Currently he still works for The Air Force. G Raman is a happily married to Mrs. Nirmala from Hubbathalai Hatty.
At the age of 16 he started writing songs for his village plays. In college, his first badaga play "Sathiya Vaaku" was organized with few Badaga Students. One of the songs written for the play was "Athimora mele ondu Anriakili" which is still playing and enjoyed by the Badagas. He has also Composed, penned and sang three songs for a tamil play name "Pithavin Theerpu" during 1979 at Anna stadium, Ooty and received First prize for Best Lyric & Best Singer for this competition play. A third play named " Theray Seelay " was organized at YBA Hall during 1980 with his Sholur friends. Few songs in the play are "Kathalay Jaama", "Avvabeda Yendu", "Mane Kattidhe" They are super hit songs till today, Subsequently two more Audio Albums were released in the year 1989 and 1997. One of the songs in the second album "Neelagiri Nanga Nakku Betta" was released on 15 May 1989 the "The Badaga Rally Day". The song was sung by him in the open stage in front of around two lakhs badaga people. It is an occasion to remember as this song has give Him a very good name in the Nilgiris. A fourth Album named " " was released after that. In the First & Fourth Albums he paired with Mrs Shanthi Desing also from Sholur village and a relative, and sang almost all the duet songs. Mrs Kalaivani, Hebbanadu village sang all the songs with him in the Second Album and both shared the songs in the Third Album. The next mega hit album was "Singara Semey" which claims more than 15,000 audio cassette in sales within three months. Few songs from that album are "Betta Nakka Suthiya Beraganiya Hethaitha", " Nennappella Ninna Hesaru", "O Alli Rani", "Mele Keriyoge" etc. The first eight lines in the super hit song 'Kadanaduna' was remixed with the original lyrics for the tamil movie 'Dheiva Thirumagal'.
In 2009 the album 'Nakku Betta' was released which was again a super hit. Few songs in the album are 'Dhonthi Ganapathy Neeye Gathi', 'Brindavanadhoge', ' Kadanaduna ondu Henna Kandye' and 'Malle Malle' etc.
He has also participated in two different cultural programmes organized by Indian Air force in Delhi & Bangalore and sang Tamil songs and received awards. Ever Since he has Composed & penned more than 260 badaga songs and sang more than 200 songs. In the year of 2011 sang in seven albums, four in 2012 and in 2013 four till today. He believes it is because of his hard work that he is able to sustain in this field. He has a passion to give good songs to Badaga people. Now, in this latest Album "Gilakkay" produced by Mr R Sai Karthikeyan of Kothumudi Village, One of the songs "Neelagiriyu Nangadhu" He feels, will definitely reach out to the Badaga people and make a big impact.
